KIT CAR
At last, with the introduction of the exciting new Avante, it looks as if the Beetle-based "exotikit" has grown into the car it always deserved to be. Easy to build and easy to drive, the car offers a fine compromise between looks and practicality, as Chris Horton found when he drove it.

Kitcar Magazine Article

Picture the scene: a Monday morning in the palatial offices of Kit Cars and Specials with the entire staff slumped over his typewriter, looking out of the window for inspiration. Suddenly, the phone rings, and a refreshingly Northern voice announces his name as Melvyn Kay, and that he is ringing to tell us about a kit car that he is producing. Now bearing in mind that we get a call like that roughly once a week, and that the majority of such cars are not that wonderful, my first thought was simply to take down all the details and file them for future reference. But then it started getting interesting.
Melvyn described the styling as being like the GT40 from the front and a Ferrari Dino from the rear, with more than a passing resemblance to a certain other well-known beetle exoticar; even more interseting was the fact that it had proper opening doors, more than enough headroom for most people and that the bodyshell was finished in a low bake paint and then cured in a special oven.
