Avante Mark  2
The Mark 2, or  Avante+2, was physically bigger than it's 2 seater brother, it's feature in the December 83 issue of Kit Car had many improvements since the introduction of the Avante and Michael Clewlow released the details of the modifications.  The height was increased by 4", the car had an extra 4" at the front and 4" at the back.  The ground clearance was also increased by 1 1/2" (it had been decided that the Avante was just a little too small).  The overall styling has not changed that much from the Avante, but there were lots of little things that had changed.  These included things like the headlights & wheel arches were bigger, the rear window was heated and about twice the size of the original, fuel tank was in the rear wing/engine compartment and there was also the inclusion of rear side windows & front/ Rear bumpers.

The rain channels were now wider and the rear end was modified to allow for an opening lid in the flat deck as well as a removable back panel for quick engine access.  The rear lights were from a Mk 5 Cortina and the addition of detachable side sills finished the external improvements.
The two photos below show the difference between the Avante MK1 and the MK2 from the rear, note larger back window, lights, and the lid in the flat deck on the MK2
